a hot motor
hope this is in the right place:
2000 dakota- v-6. had a pully that squeaked. hubby bought the belt & never put it on. so in summer, 112 degrees and the squeeky belt thing broke and it overheated. we had the pulley which was bent belt replaced. replace the hose that has the refill cap and the thermostat. ok on short trips but still ran hot. my hubby put liquid glass in it. didn't help. took it to another mechanic. he said he pressure tested the motor and no leak. said radiator was ok. told us to drive it and let him know if overheated.... which it did. talked with him today and he said 1200. to rebuild motor and that might fix it.
obviously if that will solve the problem- fine. but he isn;t sounding confident since no leak in motor that he could detect. oh, and, the squealing belt is squealing again! help me! please!

did you check the pulley's could be the water pump, they are well known to go out, that's what myn did but myn was leaking antifreeze onto the belt so that's how i caught it, but i would put my money on the water pump
OH THAT OLD THING! lol i forgot we replaced that water pump too. i would love something as simple as the squealing pulley to be the problem. seems it was warped. i ran that truck hot as a firecracker for 12 miles. is it possible the motor is ok and that squeeky pulley is the issue? could th liquid glass have fubarred it? we always run synthetic oil in it and i was hoping that helped. i truly love my truck and just want it back on the road. tia!
