Good call. I wouldn't pay anywhere $6k for it. I was only asking $11,000 for my '06 6speed 4x4 with 75k miles on it.

Well, it looks like the truck is still for sale and they've brought the price down to $4500. If the price drops any more I just might take a train out there and buy it. If I can get it for $4000 I'd be absolutely okay with needing to put to put up to $2000 into it to make it mechanically like new if it'll last another 150,000 miles with occasional towing.

I paid 7k for mine which is very similar to that truck but a club cab instead. When I bought mine it had 97k miles on it. So 6 seems pretty high to me. I think you're right about 4 being fair. I try to get it under 4500 anyway.

The 4.7 is a great motor. I love mine. The 5 speed shifts nicely and my clutch still feels great with 140k miles on it now. I wouldn't worry too much about the miles but be sure to look over it good before you buy it. Also make sure you get to take it for a test drive first and look/listen for those obvious signs.

Kelly Blue Book says buying from the dealer in my area (no rust issues) with Alloy Wheels manual door locks and manual windows in Excellent condition, $5445 so I am guessing 4500 would be fine. When I saw 6K I thought that was a bit high so looked it up as I was guessing 4K also.

A few weeks ago I found a much nicer one much closer. $9000 and I talked them down to $8000 but I wanted $4000 for my trade in and they'd only do $3700. I passed on it and the dealer of the truck i originally posted about offered to do a straight trade. This is when I figured a cheap to run econo-box makes more sense for me than a truck at this point in my life where I'm so uncertain as to what my future holds.

I really appreciate everybody's input. If I do get a truck I want a V8 Dakota, they are nice!

Just for some input and pricing guides, going to test drive again, a 01 4.7L loaded except for leather AND with only 77K on it, they were asking 9,995 for it. Just by me walking in and asking about it, they slashed 1,000 right off the top and offered me $1,500 for my 01 dodge 1500 2wd. Going back today to snag her up as she ran VERY strong with the 4.7 in it, the V6 is weak, IMO.

Looking to snag this one under or around 8K, for yours, 4K is about right for that 01 with the high miles on it.

Hope that helps a bit,

Brad
