A friend of mine had a 1980 Landcruiser FJ40 Diesel when I was in my 20s. That thing was a tank and I have wanted one ever since. Unfortunately, the price tag on one that is in any kind of decent shape at all is very high - $10,000 and up. Well I found this one which is very close by and the price seems decent. The thing is, I would be giving up my '02 Dakota for an '82 Landcruiser. Am I crazy? As much as I want one - the running gear has to be in fair shape at best. Tell me I should go for it or tell me I am crazy - I am not bright enough to make the decision!

I'm gonna vote for crazy...although toyotas are very reliable(I own 3 and have had many more). With its age, unless the brakes are all new and its been very well maintained ur looking at a nickle and dime project. I agree though the land cruisers were beasts.

 

those are tanks you will sacrifice comfort and many other things but those things are beasts and great for off road
