Default What muffler do you run?

im looking to get a new muffler for my 4.7L, i like the throaty sound at an idle, but when i stomp on it i want it to get nice and loud. the one i have now just stays throaty but louder, so what mufflers do you run and how do they sound? one with a deep idle, and higher tone at a rev would be sweet.

^^ i agree with dodgeramguy^^ i have tried a few different mufflers and the end result was none. i ended my exhaust pretty much where the muffler is suppose to be. i add a turn down there and thats it. i love the sound of it. btw i have the 4.7

How does the 40 series sound? That's one I was thinking of getting. And yeah does the cat tame the sound enough or is it pretty loud, I live up in canada with all the hippies so they will probably complain if its too loud

The cat makes a big difference. I used to have a Chevy with a 40 series and no cat. That thing was LOUD! Sounded great, though. My Dakota sounds awesome, IMO, but it's not loud enough to **** off my neighbors too badly when I leave for work at 6AM and I really have to be on the gas to set off car alarms.

I prefer to have some sort of muffler, so I have installed a Thrush glasspack 2 1/2" in and out. Nice and throaty, but not ugly and crackly like no muffler.
