Bed Swap
Hello,
The bed on my DD00 is just starting to have a rust issue...certainly nothing worth a fret. But recently I saw a nearly identical DD that had a "flat" bed, and I was in love.
This unrequited love, however, would be a project likely beyond my skill level and that of my tools and such.
Still, I am dying to know if anyone has done this and how it turned out.
Given that my DD is approaching 340,000 miles, I am not terribly concerned about the bed's longevity. (In fact, the bed may outlive the other parts of the truck...lol.) Nonetheless, what I envision is a strong, sturdy bed made of wood (probably not pallets) that would have holes for uprights, allowing an "enclosed" bed, including the rear.
So, I'm sure it CAN be done, but I would need to go the "low-budget" route.
As for what others have done, though, I'm up for seeing anything and everything.
Thanks!
P.S. I have watched a couple of YTVs on this topic, but still...something within this community would be ideal.
