Default Plug Wires

I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota with the V8. I recently replaced the spark plugs with the dreaded (from what I have read here) Bosch Plat. I was thinking of replacing the wires since I have 85,000 miles. A few questions:

1) What are good replacement wires?
2) The wires plug into a ceramic plug and then into the plugs itself. This ceramic thing is to prevent dirt from getting in to the thread area (I think). The question...If I but aftermarket wires, would I throw out the ceramic plug things? and is it there for anything else than plugging the hole?
