Wow... how did I miss this thread for so long? Back to the original question, my father has a 06 Tundra. I wasn't really impressed with it when I drove it. (I had it for a week while I was in Michigan. Clear roads, rain, snow, ice all in one week.) It was a nice truck, don't get me wrong, but I felt it lacked something. What that something was, I don't know. Perhaps styling, creature comforts, overall power...I am not sure.

I think what everyone is missing here is that we are comparing two different classes of truck. The Dakota is a mid-sized truck, while the Tundra is a full sized truck. The question is similar to asking about buying a Raider or a Silverado.

Politcal subjects can be taken up in other sections of Dodgeforum. I unfortunately, am not going to sit around and listen to a bunch of people argue about a subject that changes daily... i.e. car manufacturer plants. THey come and go yearly. There are certain trends. This and many other things can be discussed here: https://dodgeforum.com/forumid_8/tt.htm

This section of the forum is for discussion of subjects relative to the Dodge Dakota.

If there is a problem with this, or someone feels I am treating this situation incorrectly, please feel free to PM me.

I dunno, but I've been waiting for someone to tell me to play nice for a couple of days now.

and mhicks1017 - Both trucks being discussed here ARE American.

Commander you've started quite a debate here. Personally I don't feel anyone has a duty to "Buy American".... Currently Chysler is part Diamler-Chrysler corporation and they are trying to sell off chrysler (as the company is full of problems)
Anyway,
I've got a '99 dakota that has been nothing but trouble since it rolled 120K miles. I bought the dakota for two reasons: Style and Power (mine is a 5.2 liter with a manual 5-speed). For the first 60K I loved the truck but it's been in the shop WAY too much. Toyotas do one thing well, that is they always run.
My next truck will probably be a Toyota.

check out the driveshaft on that toyota, where it necks down before the pumpkin. dunno, but it looks like a piece of 1" EMT to me. and i dunno about toyota, but my company had to cut off Honda's credit due to non-payment. interesting to see a major car company send someone down for controls with a credit card. not related to toyota, but there are reasons to hate certain car companies.
