Default the dreaded death flash!!

I have been reading up on the death flash and am still somewhat confused. From what i read, it was done mostly on the rams?? Is this correct? I havea 2003 sport, but have the "autorized computer upgrade" sticker on my PCM. Is this the death flash?? And if so, would that keep me from feeling any gains from intake and exhaust upgrades???

The truck never has been slow- but from what i read im wondering now if this could be it?

Chris, check on the top center of your radiator support (bar going from side to side in front of fan shroud) if your's has been reflashed, there should be a white sticker with a serial number on it... I forget which numbers mean the death flash, but I know my '00 Dak QC has had the death flash done to it [:@]

yeah, i read that thread. But i was reading some other ones and they said that it doesn't matter what the letters are behind the code, just that if it said "updated software program" then that was the "death" flash.

I dont know. I cant find anything on the internet about it eather. Just threads from diff boards.

That's not 100% true chris... anytime they do any 'reflash' of the pcm (for any reason.. timing, sensors giving bad readings.. etc) they put a new sticker on it saying it was serviced.

what type of intake/exhaust mods are we talking here? for instance, if you got 'dual' exhaust that only duals out from the muffler or cat, that's not true dual exhaust and doesn't actually help it breath better because you still have the back pressure from the cat and muffler... if this is the case, just a CAI wouldn't make a "seat of the pants" difference in power alone. I installed a CAI on my dak and felt no difference whatsoever, but I did see a .5-1 mpg difference in mpg. I don't have dual exhaust though... only added an aftermarket muffler to stock exhaust.

well, i bought a 40 series, 2 3/4" duals from the muffler. But the damn thing runs worse. So, i am thinking about just going back to the factory exhaust w/ aftermarket muffler.
