Default ABS light and brake light

I just purchased a 2000 Dakota 4X2 V-6 5 Speed bean can truck. The ABS light and the brake light are on. The vehicle only has rear antilock. How do I turn these off? I have plenty of pad and shoe. I was told by the dealer that I needed to replace the rear axle. Can this be true? I hope not.

Thanks
Dale

try the speed sensor on the rear differential they tend to go and often cause these symptoms and also sometimes cause the truck to stop keeping accurate odometer readings, and can cause it to stop giving a speedo reading, its like 40-50 dollar sensor located on top of the rear differential and is easy to change, id try that first instead of a new rear axle
