ball joint replacement

Default ball joint replacement

anyone ever personally replaced there ball joints??? if so how hard is it????

I just did it on my '03 dually. About 10 hours on the right side only. I'm sure it'll be about half as long the next time. Learned a lot in the process though. The garage wanted about $400 per side so i figured it was time well spent.

GOOD LORD!!!! 10 HOURS? they realy arnt bad, depending on if you have air tools they can take as little as oh 2 hours to do all four of them...

ya, I did all 4 of mine in about 2 hours


but make sure you get the moog greasable BJ's, there alot better.

I haven't even looked at these on my Dakota QC 4x4 yet, but I read the factories are riveted in. Can they be drilled out? What are the general steps to remove them? Are both the uppers and lowers riveted? Typical time for me to do this is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours per side, but I am not the fastest around for sure. Heck, it takes me 15 minutes to break the lug nuts loose on two wheels ;^).
