Ok this is the week from hell for me. First a tire with less than 8K miles on it blows, then this morning I tap the parking garage wall putting a little ding in the front bumper, then leaving the garage the Ceck engine light comes on.Oh and Ilocked the keys in my truck while I was getting the tire info off of the flat tire. Luckily I was infront of the house and was able to quietly break in.What Gives? Any way thecode is P0442(M) Evap Leak Monitor Meduim Leak Detected A small leak has been detected in the evaportive sysem. Any clues as to where I start looking? How do I check for a leak anyway?

Recently fired the A/C up any coorelaton? Had the windows down when this came on, A/C not running. Truck still runs fine.

A/C runs fine. So Code 0442 is typically a gas cap? I filled up about 100 miles ago, I checked the capit seemedtight but maybe not as tight as usualeven cranked on it for a couple clicks. Man sometimes that cap can be on really tight.

 

Actually just dawned on me that I put some MMO in the gas on Sunday. Between fill-ups, that would explain it. Gunna stop at auto zone to have them clear it.

 

you can do it urself, yea dont fill when its running, this will cause it...and its not a good idea in general

 

I know I can clear the codes myself but I like my radio presets. I did not fill up while running, I put some MMO in while the truck was off on Sunday, then went to the firehouse came out found my blown tire. Kinda funny that the light did not come on sooner,put onabout 50 miles since Sunday. Hopefully that will fix it. Thanks for the quick reply.

mmo -marvel mystery oil..... the gas caps are pretty famous for having problems... the napa by my h ouse sells about 5 of em a week..
