im new to the forum but heres the deal i have a 99 ext cab v8 dakota its a manual trasmision and has the factory upgraded posi rearend. since i bought it i added exhaust an intake power programer and throttle body spacer and i need to step it up. first off i saw some are opposed to the throttle body spacer? why ? and second whats going to be my next step to a power gain??

 

How do you tell if your truck as the upgraded posi? Dont know if its any different from manual to auto. Just wondering. Do you know any sites were i can look up codes for wat came on my truck

Btw you could do a CAI, im looking at one. how do you like the throttle body spacer? im looking to get one any differece between throttle respounce?

 

Do yourself a favor, and do a search on throtte body spacers. There good for paper weights!!

and I would go with a bigger TB and maybe headers, then you can bet bigger injectors...etc.... you can do a search on this too, its been asked and discussed many times.

 

i take it its the 5.2 sport 5 speed?

I would take the TBS off give it to your dog as a play toy.. TBS are used for Carbed engines, your 99 5.2 isnt, the way out intake manifolds are set up it intakes air from the TB and spreads it out.. so the little vortex **** it CLAIMS to make is bull****, the only thing it does is make you think in your mind you have more power. Take it off dyno the truck watch the low end and high end power along with rwhp.. you will not notice a diffrence, and if you do it will probably be worse with the TB on then off.

As for your current mods.. the best thing that would help you out best would be headers.. you have good flow going into the TB and Good flow after the Exhuast manifold, but you have stock exhuast manifolds.. so your pretty much restriciting it just as much, get a set of headers..

then after the headers, get a Intake Manifold, then ugrade the TB fastman and hughes makes some good ones.

your injectors are good for now, when you get past 300rwhp then i would suggest replacing them..

also another good thing to put on is a electirc fan, and some pulleys..

 

you can see what rearend you have by opening the glove box and reading the little tag on the lid. yeah im junkin the tbs it makes the intake hit the hood anyway looks cool tho. ill throw it on ebay get a couple bux. i think ill order some headers and an electric fan then and see how it feels
