If the noise occurs at the same rate as engine speed then it is something connected with crankshaft or engine accessories. If it is 1/2 the rate of engine speed (rpm) then it is in the valve train (cam, valves, etc). I would pull the belt off of it to eliminate the accessories first. If you still have the noise then check the flywheel cover/bolts if it occurs with engine rpm, if its 1/2 engine rpm then it is in the valve train. If the noise is loud enough it could be triggering the knock sensor to retard your timing causing the engine perf problem.

mine made ticking/scraping noise acouple months ago. it turned out to be my flywheel cover. it got bent and started to rub up against it. so I took it to a tranny shop and they just removed the cover. cause you have to seperate the engine and tranny to get the damn cover off[:@] and my noise when away. now I'm getting a small exhuast now.

It's not the cover there, I removed that when I got the tranny overhauled.

Pull the dipstick, wipe it on your hand, take a pic of that and let me see it.
I want to see the color of the oil on skin, might want to have a cool motor first.
Because I think it probably needs a dang oil change, that's what it sounds like.

If it's as dark or any darker than this, it needs changing:

Don't forget the filter, too.

Possible narrow down to Ticking noise. I took of the engine oil fill cap, didn't get any louder. And the noise is loudest on drivers side. so I am thinking timing chain? can anyone confirm this? It ticks fairly fast but im not sure.

Have you ruled out a pulley bearing? As certain bearings start to wear out (AC condersor for example) they will start to make a similar sound. Take a long screwdriver, put the handle in your ear and the working end on different parts of the motor. Try to locate where the sound is the loudest and that will be your noise causer.

TAKE THE BELT OFF! this will tell you if its in the powertrain or accessories. noises travel better through metal than air....so you have to isolate it as best you can.
