Default RE: Tranny fluid

It all depends, as the amount of fluid you dropped can vary from others. The best way to do it is to drop the pan, replace the pan, start the truck for (while it is cold) and cycle through the gears quickly. Drop the pan again to get the remaining fluid out, change the filter. Refill the tranny fluid with about 3 quarts. Start the truck and cycle through the gears. Use the instructions on your tranny dipstick for topping it off to the correct level.
