Default Hitch thing

On my hitch, theres this thing that hangs down for the ball to go on to. And that thing is held on by a pin. But theres this case with a key lock on the end protecting the pin so nobody steals your hitch. Well, since we got the truck used, we didnt get the key with it. So, i cant get the hitch thing off cause i dont have the key. I need to get it off cause i cant park on an angled driveway without it scrapping the ground. And i want to keep it on incase somebody rear ends me. Anybody have any ideas on how to get the little case thing off? I tried to explain it the best i can, if you dont understand, ill try to post a picture.

I know the pin/lock you're talking about. From past experiences of friends that have used those, and either lost the keys, or it stayed on so long it rusted 'shut', you're most likely going to have to have a welder type person cut it off with a torch. The end capsnormally fit too snug to use a hacksaw, and thehardened steelis probably too tough to allow that even if you could get into it.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Cold chisel or just use a hefty mallet. Those are hardened steel pins and if you hit them hard enough they should snap. Not head on, but try to fold the lock over.

oh the old hitch....how i remember the day I had to take the old pofs off. 4 bolts that took me 2 - 3 hours. I used a good craftman ratchet and an old vacuum cleaner tube. Basically all you need it good leverage with that **** and some PB. Longer handle the better. Oh btw make sure you have a hand wrench on the top of the bolt where the nut is. Once it gets wedged against the frame, it'll stay in place unless you loosen the bolt. I had the wrench fly out of place and nearly missing my forehead, so be careful. And don't forget...much elbow grease will be involved, a foot may need to be used too.

Wait ur keepin it on..? nvm then, lol. Loong day for me
