Default header brands

Well I searched the forums and such, but not much seems to be established with the 4.7s...the most limited aftermarket parts engine type. Anyways...I was looking for some headers. I was looking into Gibson and saw the stainless steel shorties go for about $470...on sale. I was wondering what other brands there are that are good. At the summit website, they seemed to only have...2 headers for the 4.7L..one was from flowtech. I was wondering what your opinions on the flowtech headers are since it is like 200 bucks cheaper than the Gibsons. I also would like to know what other good brands there are that I'm missing. Apparently from the searches I've done there are no long-tubes for the 4.7s, so shorties it is. I want to add that I want to stay away from the chrome headers, being that they hold in more heat. So let's all help Dan out here, please, lolz. This is like the 3rd time I'm delaying my new rims+tires for some other parts I forgot to ponder about. Thanks in advance guys

Just make sure to get ceramic coated headers, you don't want you underhood temps getting ridiculously hot which will happen and will not help in your search for more power...

Just remember the hotter things get the more things are gonna get heat soaked and that will zap your power gains, do it right the first time or you may find yourself regretting it later...

+1 on the ceramic coated headers.

if you buy the steel ones then they will rust out. I had them on my old ram and within 2 years they were all rusted through and leaking like crazy. I would spend a lil more money and do it right. it will save you money down the road.

i thought stainless steel doesnt rust...anyways..

I found a pair from Hooker for about 600 bucks. Cheapest one I found so far, and it's ceramic coated. Has anyone had experience with Hooker headers?

I think hookers use an adapter plate of some sort on our heads.. so they might stick out further meaning less room. Not sure on that though. I was looking for header gaskets and i saw somthing that said hooker headers work with an adapter plate,

never used hooker though so i dont know. I have gibson on mine buts its a 5.9, but as long as mine have been on havent had any problems except a header bolt falling out.. thats it.
