Soon-to-be Dakota owner, advice?
I recently bid on and won this eBay auction for a '98 Dodge Dakota:

I wanted a basic truck to use for hauling around building materials, transporting my 4-wheeler, and for use in the crappy snowy weather we get in upstate NY winters.
For some reason he canceled two bids that were over mine, which I find a little strange but he says its because they had less than 5 feedback and didn't contact him.
According to edmunds, $3K is a great price for a '98 SLT V8 4x4 with 100K miles. Sure its got some paint problems, I'm not too concerned about cosmetics. But does anyone here who knows more about Dakotas know if I might be looking at trouble? I'm a little concerned about his statement that the exhaust "leaks a little." Would my best bet be to take the truck into a dealer for a full inspection before handing over the cash? Any other advice anyone has? I've never owned a Dakota before, or any Dodge for that matter. And yes, I know I should have asked these quesetions before bidding, but I honestly never thought I would win the auction. I figured a truck like that would go for at least $3500-$4000.
Thanks!
