weak sauce tranny
I did a search. I recently moved from Tampa Bay area Florida to Salt Lake City Utah, I loaded 'Red with a bed of approx 300 lbs of clothes and such and pulled a U-Haul trailer loaded with approx 400 lbs. I hit the 6% grades from TX going into Albequerque and i could not believe how weak i pulled upgrade. engine temps shot up and i downshifted to 2nd and still "Red felt like my ole dodge dart 225 slant 6 carrying a fat lady up a greased hill.
I can't believe this tranny is so weak. at 111K should i rebuild or replace with something beefier? i appreciate any input except for smart comments.
Thanks,

Thanks,
could be your torque converter goin, what shape is the engine in?... definately sounds like she needs to be rebuilt, or atleast get her checked out and have the pressures inside the transmission looked at... if the truck is in good shape, engine runs like a charm and u love it, definately worth fixing the transmission in my book
engine is strong, just had a compression test and leak down done. used ful syth since 25K( i bought it used) and have done all maintainence in accordance with factory specs. new brakes, shocks, tires and rims since 01/07. i was going the trade it for a Jeep once i got here, but I love this truck. input on the tranny from other longtime owners in the mountains is appreciated. I want to take "Red to Moab in a few weeks to show Jeep owners how we do it. Tranny cooler?
yea tranny cooler is definately worth it, and i live in the pocono mountains and mine doesnt have problems on grades at all, just will slow down of course until the transmission will downshift
