Default Cruise issue

Hi! I'm new here. I've got a 99 Dakota 4wd 318 and the cruise will come on but will not set. Its driving me nuts! I've got to get it fixed by Sept but I don't want to pay big diagnostic bucks. Any ideas anyone?

it dhould be located by the radiator it needs to work off the incoming air to create vaccum to set. most likely the hose has dry rot and cracked.

The stock location on my 99 is on the firewall on the passenger side. Just follow the cable from the throttle body.
