4.7L TPS replacement
Hi all! I am in the middle of trying to fix a 2000 $.7 Dak 4x4 that is having idle issues but no trouble codes. It idles too low sometimes and sometimes dies, say when coasting around a corner or even at a stop light. After the dealer put in a new ECM to fix the problem, I still had the same issue. I have replaced the MAp sensor and have a Air idle control motor on the way. I just got the TPS today and when taking the old one off, i heard it click. Does this mean that i need to preload the spring when i install the new one, or can I just bolt it on. Thanks in advance for the help. Aaron
The throttle shaft end of throttle body slides into a
socket in TPS. The TPS must be installed so
that it can be rotated a few degrees. If sensor will
not rotate, install sensor with throttle shaft on other
side of socket tangs. The TPS will be under slight
tension when rotated.

Also check the IAC (Intake Air Control Valve). Clean that with some TB cleaner and see if that helps but before you do check the tip of it. If there is carbon on it, then clean the TB as well as that. I had a similar issue with my truck with the 3.9. I cleaned everything and was fine for about a week and then started doing it again but this time nothing was dirty, so i replaced the IAC and works fine. Advance Auto or any part store should have it for about 40-50 bucks. Dealer will rape you for almost 100.
