Default Chip Reliability

So there is a good chance i am going to be getting a cai and chip (not sure which one but its name brand) for free from my cousin's husbands friend haha anyways i was wondering how reliable chips are especially on an engine with higher mileage. I have 95k right now and dont wanna blow the engine up or anything cuz i need it for the next 4 years to make it up to college and back. If i do get the chip i probably wont leave it on all the time but i was just wondering if it will put my truck in jeopardy of anything harmful. And the premium fuel thing really isn't a big deal seeing its only 10 cents more than im using now so any help would be appreciated.

Check the manufacturers (of the chip)recommendations as far as fuel goes. The chip itself should not effect overall engine life.

when u get the chip

depending on who it is

is should ask if youd like to raise the speed limit.of course select yes for that

but when it asks raise rpms? select no

all it does is raise ur first gears rpms another 500?

usually that would b cool but the power drops off at redline...well at least for the r/t

and the next 500 it pushes is no power juss alot of engine noise.

the chip wont hurt a high milage motor. I just keep mine on stage 1 unless I wanna play around a bit

dont buy a chip from ebay they r pieces of junk. most of them r little resistors and you cant even feel the power. most of them just turn your check engine light on

I don't think he was talking about getting a ebay chip.

Yes it's a good idea to go on ebay and look for a used chip such as jet performance or a hypertech programmer!
