bed quarter panel chopping?
I am officiallya Dakota owner... just bought a 2000 Dakota sport 4.7L.
I'm very familiar with theMOPAR family, at least from the JEEPfamily. I had a TJ and XJ... built them both up to be rock-crawlers.... 4-linked front and rears, Dana 60 rears, 44HP fronts, Dana300 flipped and clocked, blah blah blah... I had to sell them before medical school and bought a stupid subaru outback and have had it for 3 years... bad decision... I decided that I need a truck for 4th year of medical school and during my next6 years of neurosurgery residency. so, I decided to come back to the MOPAR family.
Well, I'm suremost of you don't give a rat's **** about my story.... on to the question.
I want to chop the quarter panels flat. I was wondering if anyone has any links to any pictures of people who chopped their truck bed "quarter panels"? I'd like to see what it looks like in real life and not just what isimagined in my head.
So, for REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY, I am going to put links for two pictures of a before and after shot of a quarter panel chop job we did on my friends FJ60 Cruiser. Yes, I know that it's not a Dodge and that it's not a "truck", but imagine the FJ60 has a bed on it... We did add a "rocker panel" extension from the bumper to run underneath the chopped quarter panel you'll see in the after shot. You should be able to get the jist of what I am looking to do with the truck bed.

I haven't seen one yet that has been, although I can clearly see the benefit for crawling. Before I would worry about chopping the rear up, I would worry about widening the wheelbase and lifting it to a height that it would even matter. As far as your questions, I imagine it would be pretty easy, as long as you realize that the rear leaf supports are just as low as the rear quarters. Not to mention the frame rails are only slightly higher than the rear leaf mounts.
