Default gear questions

what gearing would i look to put in my truck if i'm looking to put heavy wheels/tires on,
while not losing highway capabilities?

my truck has trouble with the 31x10.5s on stock rims i've got
i'd hate to see how it moves 31's on 22's

i currently have the 8.25(?) rearend and a 2.5L engine

Default RE: gear questions

at least a 3.9L in it in order to move it

j/k but if they are the same size around (31's) then it should be about the same either way and wouldnt a higher gear ratio help it move better( better acceleration, for higher rpms at highway speeds??) i think, and what gears do you have now????

I would just get smaller tires[8D] your only 2wd

but i dunno what gears you have now, but 4:10's should be good.

i don't remember offhand what gears i've got i think 4:11's?

but the big wheels are a lot heavier(+20-30 lbs) than what i've got now

eventually i'd like to do a small block swap (440 magnum )
