Key fob programming problems
I have a '03 Dakota QC with remote door unlock, no security system. I tried programming 2 additional key fobs by the instructions in the owner's manual without success. I have remotes from my truck(bought used with 20K miles)with part number 04686481 AC on the back, however the remotes I got off eBayhave 04686481 AF on them, but they look the same.
Here's what I did and the results:
1. Turn key to ON position, hold down unlock on original remote for 6 seconds and then panic and release until chime. This worked, so I should be in programming mode.
2.Press and release lock and unlock on new remote hear a chime. This worked.
3.Using the second new remote, repeat step 2. This did not work.
4. Turn key to off.
5.Key fobs should be programmed. Now my original remote that I used to try to program the new onesis the only one that works. I have 2original remotes and 2 new ones, so I only haveone of 4 working now...
What did I do wrong? I followed the owners manual page 18, but just erased one of my original remotes. I knew that there is a possibility of erasing previously programmed fobs, but I tried the steps with just the originals to try to re-program the dead original one, but I can't getthat to work, either.
I also did not know if the AC vs AF part number on the backis an issue or not.
Any help is appreciated.
