well brought my truck into my shop today and looked at th o2 sensors, not bad at all honestly, my instructor wants me to do a tune up on her, been 40,000 miles since the last tune up, did a hard reset to, to the pcm today and that seemed liked it reset the fuel parameters and went back to normal. i even ran the truck with the sensors hanging out of the pipes and didnt throw any idiots lights, but one question... how the hell do you get to those o2 sensor plugs, they are hidden above the transmission and i cant get to them, yes its 4 sensors, 2 on each pre-cat

Use the search function. Just giving you a hard time. The reason it didn't throw a code right away is because the computer averages out the O2 readings. Over time it realizes that you are getting wrong readings. Sorry I can't be of much help as far as reaching the sensors themselves, as I haven't had the pleasure of changing them out on your engine.

thanks.. yeah this system is strange as anything ive ever seen so far, i was reading in the chilton manual and if one of the sensors freaks out pretty much, the pcm will shut down that sensor and run itself in an open loop fuel control, pretty much doing away with the sensor, if im not mistaken, they didnt look bad at all to be causing me to have **** poor fuel milage, im liking the fact i may need a tune up more and more i think about it... 73,000 original cap and rotor ... well i beleive thats one problem.. haha

I just pushed the plug out of the hole and disconnected it . it was a cramped area but it can be done. those plugs have a grey plastic fitting on them that go in a hole in the top of the tranny , put your hand up there and push up it should come out and it helps if you can see a lil bit when you reconnect the new one. i have xxl hands and i did it and so can you.

I had this happen so watch. But your cat converter can get clogged and cause the same problem but I believe that more than likely it is ur o2's as that isn't that much on a cat.
