Pcm swap test?
I suspect my pcm may be the reason my cruise will not work. My truck did not come with cruise, but I bought all the factory parts and put them in.
My brother-in-law has basically the same truck. The only difference is his is a 2000 and mine's a '99, his is 2wd and mine is 4wd. Both are 3.9 automatics. His came with cruise. Would it be possible to put his pcm in my truck to see if the cruise will then work, or put mine is his truck to see if his still works? Which route would be better?
Thanks.

From what I've read and been told it's usually a plug and play deal. Seems like they'd just make a standard pcm fora particular vehicle drivetrain/emissions combo with all options to put in all the vehicles.I took it to one dealer and they didn't believe that there was any way to turn that function on with their scan tool. They hooked it up and just said the pcm isn't seeing the button signal. So with what you're saying would that be considered having to get the pcm flashed, or just going in and modifying my current one?
He's right, you must bring your PCM to thedealer and have it flashed for the cruise to work.
Same thing with Fog lights, on some trucks if you add factory foglights you must get the PCM reflashed for them to work.
