Default truck threw a code for the first time

my 2001 has been acting up lately. yesterday it stalled 3 times right after starting and today when i tried to start it, it took me like 5 minutes, and died a few times in the process. I did the key trick to check for codes and it came up with p0123 which means
P0123 (M) Throttle Position Sensor Voltage High Throttle position sensor input above the maximum acceptable voltage.
P0123 (M) Accelerator Position Sensor (APPS) Signal Voltage Too High APPS voltage input above the maximum acceptable voltage.

should I just go ahead on replace these two sensors or could something else cause the voltage to be too high?

It doesnt sound like the sensors are bad, as the code is for the input to them, not the sensors themselves. How many volts is your battery putting out?

not sure, i'll go ahead and check that out. It is the original battery so it could be going bad.

Yes it could. It could also be that your altenator is putting out too many volts. Check to see what it is putting out. It should be between 13-14 IIRC.

i checked the voltage on the battery and alternator and they are both good. I'm thinking the tps sensor is going out so its drawing more volts. also, when i was having trouble starting it the dummy light in the lower left hand corner came on, i cant remember what it's called but the book said it was something that checks the emissions or something. Anyway, i disconnnected the tps sensor and the connected and when i started it again the light stayed off. any ideas?

Maybe your TPS connection was loose, and you just fixed it. Oddly enough when you simply disconnect a sensor, it says "HIGH VOLTAGE" blah blah from a sensor.
