Default Oil Pressure Gauge...

On my 5.2 litre Magnum - 98 Dodge Dakota truck, if I am just cruising around town then the oil pressure gauge stays just below 40. When I am driving 55 mph or more like on a open straight stretch, it will read about half way between 40 and the next line. It has never gone above the "crown looking" area. If I understand correctly, this area is the "normal areal." My question is" Is this normal for that truck and engine? THis is my first V8 motor! Just making sure nothing is wrong.
