Default Front drive axel

I have a 00 Dakota 4x4 club cab that the front drive shaft is messed up.
I thought it was just a u joint until I took it apart and found more damage.
My question is would there be damage done to the truck if the truck was driven with the front drive shaft removed?

No the joint that bolts to the transfercase. There is a ball and cup in there and the cup part is broken.
I can't think of the name of the parts

So can the truck be driven that way to go pick up the parts?

I have a 2001 and had the same problem, Garbage design, Theres no replacement for the ball/socket piece. You need to get a whole new driveshaft at around $275-$300. If they just kept making them with replaceable u joints at the end it wouldn't be a problem. Ayhow I took mine out 6 months ago an everythings fine just no 4 wheel drive. In the future im looking at something different than Dodge because of this.
