if you look on the back side there is a round sliver and red tag, it will be list there. what are you driving?

 

2000 4x4 3.9 liter. i thinks its the nv231

 

I am in need of replacing my t-case as well. I have a 1999 dakota. I have a NP231. The NV231 is the same t-case. Both should work.

 

is just the case the same or all the insides too?

 

In 1988 New Process starting making the NP231 for Jeeps and Dakotas and some 1/2 ton Rams. Around 1992 New Process was either bought out or they changed their name to New Venture and the NP231 was changed to NV231. They have the same internal components. They both are aluminum. If you want to learn more about the NV231 try searching the Pirate4x4.com forum boards under the Jeep section. BUT I warn you, DO NOT POST unless you KNOW what you're talking about!!!! Pirate members are ferocious!!!

The nv231/np231 are a 2.72:1 ratio. they came in 21 spline and 23 spline. 21 spline are for the 4 cyl jeeps and 6 cyl dakotas. 23 spline are for the 6 cyl jeeps and 8 cyl dakotas.
Teraflex makes a 4:1 ratio attachment (TeraLow) for thenv231/np231.
