Is this problem the flasher, turn signal switch or trailer wiring?
The left turn signal works fine, UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, at which time it blinks really fast. One guy tells me it sounds like the flasher, another says turn signal switch or corrosion/wire problems in my tow hitch wiring.
What do you suppose it is, and what should I do to fix it. One thing I have noticed is the brake light on the left side has gone out with the fuse burning out. I thought it was when I was pulling my trailer, since I do have a light on that side with the covering cap off of it. However, I wonder now if it deals with thewiring on the truck for the trailer lights.
Thanks!

I had a similar issue when I hooked a trailer up. I was told it was a bad ground. I fixed the ground for the light harness, but haven't towed a trailer since to know if that was the problem. Does the fuse blow when you replace it and hit the brake? From what you're saying it sounds like it's in the wiring in the rear someplace. First place I would check is where the trailer light harness connects to the tail lights. If it's one of those that you splice to the existing tail light wires, start at the splices and make sure all the connections are still good. The person that owned my truck before I got it put one of those on, and I had a fuse blow and lost my dash lights and tail lights all at once. Turned out one of the splices had broke the tail light wire.
The fuse has blown out quite a few times, but not every time I hit the brake. Also, I think it happens when I DO use the trailer, though I'm not sure that's the only time it goes out.
I just checked the wiring. From the four pin hookup for the trailer, working back to the tail lights, there are four wires from the four pin that are spliced to four wires under the truck.A yellow and brown wire splice to a yellow and brown wire that go to a harness that hooks into wires that go to the back left tail light, the other two wires go to a similar hookup for the other tail light. The harness for the left light looks fine, like there are no wiresloose. Itook the electrical tape off the brown and yellow wires splicing the four pin to the truck wires, and though they were tightly woven to together, the yellow wire seems really dark, and not bright copper like I normally see. I stripped backthe casing of the yellow wire going to the harness to see if I could get cleaner wire, but it's dark there too. I rewrapped the wires and drove the truck around the block.Suddenly, the blinker light works fine, brake on or not. Could it be that, though it looked fine, the connection was weak on that yellow wire? I take it there was one hot and one ground of the two, and the yellow was probably the ground? I think it is fixed, but I guess the problem could happen again at any time...
BTW, I also notice a white wire coming outof the brake light compartment runningunder the truck toward the front.
Any comments would be appreciated, and thanks for that last bit of advice!

Hmm... I think I would do away with the wiring that is in place, and then clean up all the splices and insulate them with heat shrink tubing. Then, get one of the kits that simply plugs into the existing plugs that go to the L and R lamp assemblies. The kits are not cheap, at ~25 bucks, but I've used them on my Dak, and previous Toyota with great results. That white wire may have been part of an electronic brake setup at one time.
