Default Brake problem on 2000 QC

On my 2000 QC, 5.9, I started having a problem with my brakes that I believe to be related to the ABS. The problem is when putting on the brakes, there is a pushback (sort of) and a type of grinding. The truck does not feel like it is going to stop but after letting foot off the brake and re-applying to brake it stops. It started doing this under slippery conditions if the brakes were applied quickly (winter or rain) but did not do it often. It has recently started to do this during normal driving conditions, but only does it when coming to complete stop or applying brakes quickly when coming to complete stop. I don't have any idiot lights on in the dash.

Is this a speed sensor problem or something bigger. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve

have you checked for any stored codes relating to the ABS?

I haven't looked into the codes. The check engine light is not on, so I didn't think to look there.
