get to know a body/paint guy in a hurry, white is cheap and easy to blend. parts shouldnt be too bad but also keep in mind if that body shop claims its totaled you have the right to a second opinion. some shops will total it just because its older than what they like to work on, or if the estimator has a bug up his ***, dont give up till you find a shop that will quote it lower than the total outcost

insurance carriers have their repair guides. This is what they use to determines damages, so they can figure labr and parts. most are high on the labor. cause say they say to remove and replace a fender is 1.5 hours of labor, yet you shop can do it .75 hours, shop wins. but they will use their method to calculate labor. Also, insuranc cariers aren't to keen on selling the vehicle back to you as salvage because of the legal ramifications.
if its NADA then my truck is worth 9k, Kelly its worth 8k, so half of 9 would be 4.5k and im pretty sure thats cutting it close to the repair dmg, i was looking at parts, to replace the front end cosmetic parts, as in bumper, grill, hood, fenders, flares, side mirror it came out to less then 1.2k adding the radiater, supports, ele fan, ect.. add on another 500 or so, paint it what is going to kill me... 2k maybe for paint? Maybe more.. thats close to 3.7k + labor to install = over 4.5k... AND THATS WHY my truck is sitting at a friends shop. I have a friend that will get the parts and install them for no labor charge, so they can quote me a LOWER price so the insurance wont total it.. GOD i hope this works.

They will only total it if the visible damages exceed say 50% of teh nada value. the percentage varies from insurance company to insurance company. once damages exceed their percentage the vehicle is declared a "constructive total" at that point they cut you a check less the deductible and then you have the opportunity to buy it back as salvage.
I have been an insurance agent for 20 so I've been down this path before.

Talked to the insurance and the shop, more then likley the truck is NOT going to be totaled. About 5k in dmg, and truck is worth around 9k.
I signed the papers to have them start workingon it, and im even getting my aftermarket hood replaced.. woot!

glad to hear its not totalled out.
i'm pretty sure theres more then 5k in damages there. when I was in my accident last year they said 3-4k and when it was all done it was $6,500. and make sure they get everything right. I went back 3 times and got them to fix more stuff.

They are replacing my hood, after it was stripped down and loocked at the total cost to rebuild is 6,999.87 almost 7k to fix everything.
Should have it back middle next month maybe.
