Default Replace Shift Lever on Automatic

Hey, after reading alot of these posts most of you seem to know what you are talking about and how to do most anything. Sorry to read about so many busted up trucks...

I am trying to replace the shift lever on my 1997 Dokota. Problem is that I can't find any steps on how to do it in my Haynes manual. Maybe a Chilton would have it, but I would rather not have to buy another book. Maybe if someone has the steps from a dealer's manual. I have looked up every possible topic I could think of in my Haynes. Shift lever, gear lever, shift selector, shift ****, gear shift. The shift lever has the overdrive switch on it, but there is nothing in the manual about that either. I took off the steering column cover, and then I realized I will probably have to remove the lower console cover too. I think I could do it myself, but it got too dark to hold a flashlight and work.

I was just hoping someone knew where the directions to remove and replace the shift lever on an automatic 1997 are. I would prefer online, but if someone has a Dodge dealer's service manual and could Xerox the pages and fax them to me or something, that would be cool as well.

I went through the manual page by page and several sections got really close. Like steering column removal, airbag, ignition, shift selector, even console removal, etc., but it seems like none of these operations require to remove the shift lever/automatic shifter. Maybe I was pissed off and totally missed it. The more I looked at it there is a spring pinned down by the metal shift arm, and I didnt want to start messing with it without some step by step directions.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
