I believe my problem is related to some sort of sensor but I don't know where to start. The problem is.. when I come to a stop, the transmission wants to shift to second or third gear and stalls the truck. I'm not getting any computer reading errors. But, I feel I have a sensor going bad. the problem occurs whether the transmission is hot or cold. It happens whether the air conditioning is on or off. Any recommendations?

its a 2000 model with the small V8 and 4 speed automatic transmission with towing package
