2004 4.7L 4X4 upper ball joints??
I have a 2004 QC 4.7L 4X4 Dakota and am in need of some ne UPPER ball joints. I phoned my dodge dealer and they said they dont stock just the ball joint for this year, they want me to buy the whole control arm!!! HAHAHAHA
So I guess I am in the aftermarket hunt now, what are some good upper ball joints that can be bought online for a good price!! Please include links to the exact product if you can. Im not really that good at searching. Thanks

The reason they told you that is because your ball joints are pressed into the upper control arm. Get ready for some serious work to replace just the ball joints. There are several members in the section that have replaced just the ball joints on your model truck. They should chime in shortly.

So the ball joints are pressed on an 04?? I know that the 04's are different than the 00-03 models. If they are pressed in can they be replaced?? I am not prepared to replace the whole control arm on both sides!!!

you can just do the joints yes..

You can replace just the ball joints, but it is a decent amount of work. Jonnymagnum should be able to chime in, as he has done them before I am pretty sure.

The upper ball joints are riveted in and can be replaced without replacing the whole control arm. And if you want to buy factory ones, PM me and I can tell you how....

i just did them on my 03 4x4 and the uppers were riveted in. i went with moog ball joints upper and lower. the lowers are a pain right in the *** because they are pressed in. i believe the 04 dakotas are pretty much the same way. you should be able to get moogs at a local shop. they run about $70 - $75 each. if you are doing just the uppers i would reccomend doing the lowers also. even though they suck, you will be in there to do those shortly after.
