So my A/C took a crap on me and it completly locked up so the belt is just being pulled across it. Its a 97 dakota and there is a path that overrides the A/C but the belt made for the model with no A/C isnt long enough. Does anybody know if a belt the proper size is made?

 

I don't know the exact size, but they make belts in all sorts of sizes, i'm sure you can get one the right size

 

what you need to do , is get a piece of string or rope and follow the belt bypassing the a/c compressor. once the length is complete just measure it. you may need to get a belt from a chevy or ford if dodge does not have on. these belts are pretty much interchangeable from the manufactures

 

I did it to mine. and I think it was 2" or3" longer then thenon A/C belt. Iforget.

 

you should be able to ask the parts counter guy for the non-ac version of the belt. then you might have to yank off the compressor to get it to fit. there should also be a routing diagram showing you how it's routed.

 

or use string to measure... i rember this post being on here and the parts stores dont have a numbert for non ac
