MIL eliminator...? cut my cat out now i got a check engine light
so i cut out my cat in my 99 dakota and of course i got a check engine light saying that my emissions has gone to ****... does anyone know where i can get a mil eliminator for my dakota at...? i know they sell these for the mustangs and camaros.. like always... GRRRRR does it ever seem like parts are such a pain in the *** to find for dodge dakotas..?
Try unscrewing the O2 sensor that used to be located downstream of the catalytic converter and tie it off to the frame rail so it's exposed to fresh air. You can buy an 18mm plug from most parts shops to plug the O2 bung. The downstream O2 sensor is typically configured for Catalytic Converter efficiency - as long as the air it reads is "cleaner" than the upstream O2 sensor, then the computer assumes the cat is working well and the code won't appear.
Otherwise you can check with places like www.thefastman.comor www.krcperformance.com, I know at one time they used to sell O2 SIMM boxes.

what most of us did was remove the cat and run a one inch piece of rebarb threw it, to remove the inside. that way you still have the bung for the sensor and get no mil light
