I have a 1997 Dakota 5.2 4x4 44RE trans. I got it a few months ago with 117k. it is running fine but the trans fluid is a little dirty and Im not sure when it was last changed. Will this trans run all right with dexron mercon fluid. Im running a fleet of ford E4OD's from 96 to 03 with this fluid and they run fine. I just want to double check about the trans fluid first. I didn't get an owners manual with the truck. Thanks for your help.

 

I wouldn't use this it can cause problems according to some sites. Best to fork out and buy the atf+4. At napa you can buy penzoil for about half the price of the dealers ships crap. That or buy synthetic if you plan on doing a flush. But your tranny fluid shouldn't be dirty should be nice and clean...
