my 2001 has a hard time starting in the moring.... i have to crank it forever... it only seems to start after i press pump the gas? but its EFI??? anyone??
Leak in the system somewhere? Are you getting any codes? Iv had mine in some cold weather - 35, without plugging in started first try so, these trucks work good in cold.
Wait a solid 20 secs with the key in the on position. (Should hear the pump prime).
Then, try to start. If that's it, it's the fuel-pressure-regulator. That's my bet.
Make sure the coolant temp sensor and air temp sensor are reading right.
Even though the on-off-on fuel pump bit didn't work, I'd check for bleed down with a gauge. 3.9, 4.7 and 5.9 should all be 50 PSI KOER and should hold at least 30 PSI for at least 5 minutes after shut off. Could also have a leaky injector flooding it; that should show up on the bleed down test.
well since it's getting ridiculously cold out, at least where i live, it could be something as simple as a battery.. how old is it? take it to autozone and have them test it.
