Default heat

Hi there, new to this forum. I have a 2000 dakota that only has good heat around 2000 rpm. I searched your site and did the reverse flush. did a complete flush last year. only 100,000 on it. I have to believe that there is air in the system. Is there some kind of trick to getting the air out of this thing or is there something going on that Im missing. Had a jeep forever and knew every inch of it . just learning the dodge now. I love it, but I like to have the heat problem solved. I find it hard to believe the core is bad. but who knows. flushed it real good with the directions I found on tour site. I read something about re setting the computer. that sounds crazy to me, is there any truth to this. thanks richie

When you say, "good heat around 2000 rpm", is your temp gauge also going up
more with the rpm increase? You also *may* have a weak water pump.

Need more info.. Engine (3.7, 3.9. 4.7, 5.7). 2000 was the switch over year for
the V6 I believe and the first year for the 4.7? Not sure.

no temp is normal all the time. the blower motor is same. flushed the core twice and did not get alot if any sludge either time. i drive the beach alot fishing , so if it doent overheat i think i can assume coolant is running smoth. i have the 3.9 v6 quad. the stat was changed and the problem the same. more gas, more heat. weak water pump is a good guess i suppose. i was thinking air in the block but yesterday i did everything ikoow to get every bubble out.. a weak water pump woul make my temp run high would
you say. its not like i have no heat, but it takes a long time to defrost it the winter.at least i have heat when im driving. i take pride in keeping mytrucks running peak so this problem just eats at me . besides the no display on thr infinity cd player that i have to pull out and re soder the resister all the time.
thanks for your help. richie

I'm having the same problem The heatis very poor at idle but when the engine is at 2000 rpm's it's better but still not the best. I changed thermostat, flushed the core, changed the radiator cap,and heaterhoses. the returnline of the heater hose feels cooler than the in hose. Any body know how to fix this problem.

my heat is good at 2000 rpm . the only problem i have is idle. Im thinking core now.I did notice that when I flushed it was easier on the reverse side then the manifold side. I think we tried everything within reason. my old 88 cherokee was the same but it had 300000 on it.
