Yes - remove the upper core crossmember, disconnect all the hoses and whatnot, and then you can remove the radiator to access the engine for a cam swap without removing the block.

If the truck has AC, you're gonna have toget the condenser out of the way too Not sure if you'll be able to without discharging the system and removing the lines, but I doubt it.

And be sure to port match the manifolds; otherwise the port job on the heads won'treturn much. Might be worth it to have the heads milled 0.030" or so to get a little more compression. Not sure on magnum engines, but with LA blocks0.030" can be done with stock push rods and no milling of the intake.

You don't have to discharge the AC on a Dakota to access the manifold/engine/etc. The AC & Alternator can be lifted up and set to the side, those particular lines are flexible.

he said the condensor not the compressor. and i didn't think of that, but i work at any a/c and appliance store so thats no problem.
I also heard that 2 remove the heads, al you have to do is losen the lifters to remover the rods. Is this true? What is the best way to remove the heads?

.Ive put a 4.3l in a sonoma and like you said all you have to do is remove the comp. and move it aside. All the disassembly is nothing, the only part im not 100% on is removing the heads.
Im trying to convince my friend to just pull the motor, because a few more bolts takin out and we could pull it.
