engine swap
hokay. My buddy just wrecked his 2002 4.7L 4x4, he owed me a lot of money so we said we'd be even if he gave me his 4.7L (yay!!!) and one of his bucket seats (my dog tore the upholstery on one of mine), since he was getting a new dak he was cool with it, not thrilled but cool with it.
I have a 2WD 3.9L '03 dakota. what all would I need to change if I wanted to get the engines swapped, one of my super gear-head buddies said if the engine was still good that it wouldn't be too hard, but I need to find out what else we would need to change (trans, mounts, etc.) I've looked all over the forum and I couldn't find anything.( if I was wrong if you could post a link to it and I'll stop bothering everyone with already-asked questions).
with the back story complete. what all would I need to get/do to make the engine swap possible?

first off,an ecm and engine harness for your year truck that had a v8.some sensors could be different, maybe exhaust hook up.mount should be the same and trans should bolt up.flywheel may or may not be different.keep us posted-i've been thinking about the same for my '04.start getting parts now so in a few yearsb when she's starting to get tired, have everything ready and swap, may be a while though-she only has 19,000 on her.
Might not work. Not sure about your application, but more often than not 4x2 and 4x4 engines have different oil pans. In the case of Ford's 4.0 SOHC, they're actually a different engine (balance shaft in 4x4 engine).
