for Dakota experiments
taking a worn out 1st Gen Dakota two wheel drive (which is about 450 lbs lighter)
and puting in a turbo I4 engine from a wrecked PT Cruiser
then setting up the gearshift ratios to get
about 1-3 psi of boost at 65 mph highway cruise
might yield some eye=popping MPG numbers

with some further aero tweaks of the 1st Gen Dakota body
{tonneau, deeper front air dam, vortex gens on sides, Lexus outside mirrors}
and selecting the lowest rolling resistance street tires
I would not be surprised
if a Dakota mod'ed out this way
could get 35 MPG at a steady 65 mph.

looking at your sig... you need a custom tune on that thing. I've talked to dak owners running 408's who were getting 18's. you should be able to get betterwith your setup.

I am running in 20-23 mpg but there is a trick. it's called a hafc hydrogen assisted fuel cell. not the most cost effective in the short run but over a 12 month period I am starting to see the rewards.
read about it yourself

can't wait untill the picc (pre ignition catallytic convertor) is ready

just had a look at you rmotor in your gallery... suggestions would be to wrap your intake tube to keep from heat soaking it and then wrap your fuel rails as well. ThermoTec makes a sheet wrap that you can use for the intake and then a smaller tape for the fuel rails. Not sure what the economy gain would be with just a fuel rail wrap but I did this with a fuel cooler and got a 6.5% boost in mileage... on a 2000 QC 4x4 Ram w/5.9 motor... setup similar to yours with the exception of the manifold.

edit: oops... forgot to add... running 4.11's and 34" tires... on the hiway I could easily get into the 14's, combined was usually mid 13's.

want a real fuel saving trick? drive easy and maintain your truck.

it will save you money in repairs due to neglect and abuse if you do that. no need to spend butt loads of money on gadgets when you can just be nice to your truck and spend all that money on gas instead of crap that supposedly helps mileage
