Headlight switch Q

Is there a thermal overload internal to the Dakota's headlight switch? My headlights go out and come back on seemingly randomly and I'm wondering if the OL is going bad, if there is one.

By the way, this is with keyless entry but no DRLs on a '97.

Sounds kinda like a poor connection or maybe a bad Central Timer Module.....
