condensaion
Hello everone;6 mounths ago i purchased a 2001 dakota 4.7,the last two oil changes at 3000 miles,Ive hade a small amount of white build up in the oil fill tube.Does not use oil or water.I use seafoam in my oil and fuel.Has any one had the same and did you find a fix.Truck has 50,000 miles on it and seems to run find, also there are no signs from the exhast something wrong.thanks for any help.
Welcome to DF. The milky white buildup under the cap is normal on the 4.7's, seen more when the outside temp gets cold, when condensation forms in the filler tube. I just wipe mine out when I do an oil change. If you see milkyness (is that a word?) when you drain the oil, thaht's a different story. But if it is only under the cap then you're ok. I think Dodge has a revised cap or filler tube but I am not certain. I'm sure someone will pipe in to verify.
