Default RE: new engin start up

Here's what I do with "New" engine start up for the 1st time. I fill it with a decent single grade oil (30 weight) and plain water for coolant. I start it up and check for OIL PRESSURE 1st then coolant leaks. After that I look/listen for any vacuum leaks. If it passes all that, I run the RPM's up to 3 or 4 grand and hold it for a couple of minutes. If the enginedoesn't leak or break then, I drain the coolant system and add antifreeze (regular green stuff) for the first 500 miles. After 500 miles, I drain the oil and look for metal particulates in it. I change out the filter (initial startup I use a cheapee filter) then put on the filter that I will use for the life of the engine for the 500 mile break end. After 500 miles, I cut open the filter and inspect it for metal. If there's none present, I'd flush and fill the crankcase with a full synthetic oil and a quality filter and then drive the vehicle as I normally would. After atleast the 500 mile breakend, I'd replace the green antifreeze with an extended life antifreeze. I personnally like the DEX COOL antifreeze by GM. My synthetic oil is ELF with a 20/80% ratio of Lucas Oil Stabilizer (20%) and the Oil (80%).

I wouldn't be running no exhaust off the headers though, you can burn up your valves/seals.

Exhaust headers on the engine I hope was a given. I was hoping the new engine would have been installed prior to 1st fire up.
