Default 97 Dakota heat problem

Hi everyone, Ryan here, I am the new owner of an 05 ram, and my wife has been driving a 97 dakota for a couple years now. I had the heater core replaced in it in the beginning of 05 because the heat would just blow cold. Afterwards the heat was very hot and would run you out of the truck. Lately she has told me that the heat is not as warm as it use to be, it still warm a little, but not nearly as hot as I think it should be. Is there something I can check for that might be keeping it from warming up. I wouldnt think the heater core would be going out again but maybe I am wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can keep my wife warm. As well all know, if mama aint happy, aint nobody happy!

I gotta wonder if the thermostat is staying open. What temp is the truck running at? Has the needle been in a different spot?
How long does it take to warm up?

Check your radiator fluid if you see junk floating around it is probably plugged and needs a backwards flush.

If you search in the Do It Yourself section, you can find a write-up I did for the heater core flush. See if it helps. If not, you most likely have a t-stat that is stuck open.
