yes the gas mileage really sucks. i have a 2001 dodge dakota quad cab v6 and i cant even get 200 miles a tank. I get like 150 or 160 miles per tank.

grr I had that same crappy milage on my v6 it pissed me of, so I went ahead and got the v8, if Im getting those miles in the 6 why not go for the v8 and have fun with the low milage

my dad drives a v6(3.9) quad cab 4x4 and gets like 17 or so highway and city doesnt make much difference

my durango w/ 4.7 v8 gets about 13.5-15 in the city and 19-20 on the highway

autolite 3923's are supposedly the best plugs for the magnum motors.

Check your tires

Is the truck lifted with big tires? that will suck some MPG's

Check the fan clutch

is the 10MPG's in town driving with your lead foot?

You could try and bottle of fuel injector cleaner with your next full tank of gas.

Also check your air filter.

I've got a 02 4x4 5spd w/3.9 and only get 15 in town 17 on freeway. I did notice that when I put some super &/or octane booster not only does it run better but I get 17 in town. I even did the shift at 2k rpm didnt get much better out of it.

the quad cab truck is alot heavier than the ex or single cabs. I dont understand why Dodge even put a V6 in the quad cab, it is so underpowered in that heavy chassis!

idk but my dad bought one and i drive a durango(1st gen) with 4.7 and he regrets getting the 6 in his truck but what can he do, he will NOT buy a used truck unless it is intended for an engine swap and he is just crazy enough that he might try that too

my dad hates diesel so he wouldnt go for that but it wouldnt be my problem althogh a cummins would probably get like 20 mpg around town in these trucks
