Default Length of header wrap

How much wrap would one need to do a set of shorty headers? I was looking at a 100' x 2" roll of fiberglass based wrap. Is that way over kill or just enough? I would rather have too much then too little, but 100' sounds like alot.

Ive herd that header wrap will actually destroy your headers overtime. Due to the fact that they are not heating and cooling the correct way and overtime can lead to cracks and even worse rusted out due to the wrap not letting mositure through.

Ive also herd that the header wrap works fine and does its job. Why dont you just get them coated? Looks better and does the same thing. Go to a local powercoating/header coating shop and have them done..

and as for the length.. ive never used it. So i honestly dont know. Maybe Mike (viperkota) will chime in.. he used it on his 4.7.

The whole "wrap will destroy your headers" is a complete wives tale. I know 2 people with wrap on thier bikes exhaust and 3-4 on rat rods and no one has ever had any issues. The only time you might not want to is in a mud bogger or something of that sort, which takes so much abuse headers rusting will be the last of your issues.

Also from my experience, header wrap works better then ANY coating for controlling under hood temps. My buddy double wrapped his headers on his bike and you can put your hand on them, thats how much heat they block.

I myself have never wrapped anything, so i am not sure if 50' will take care of it. Probably just get the 100' and if there is extra i'll wrap my street bikes headers.
